One Change Every Week

Over the course of the next few months, we are making some very specific changes to our lifestyle, mostly in our diet.  I'll get into the reasons behind this decision in a future post.  This week's change . . . giving up white rice for organic brown rice.  It is nutty and filling.  An easy first change.

Essential Oils

Let me just start by saying, I'm addicted.
I believe everything we need to get and keep ourselves and our families healthy has been provided for us by a loving Heavenly Father.  What better way to use what we have been given than by using pure essential oils?!
I use essential oils everyday, several times a day.  And I love them!  I use Melaleuca/tee tree oil for my child with foot fungus.  I give her Oregano for the same reason.  We use lavender on little scrapes and burns.  And one of my favorites . . . lavender and peppermint on the forehead and the back of the neck for headaches.
Many of the oils I have are from a company called doTerra.  Doterra oils are pure.  And great.  But in order to give in to my addiction, most of the oils I have bought are from Now Foods.  Also pure.  Also great.  Their company offers many great and natural products.  And that includes 100% pure essential oils at a price more in my budget.
I bought my Now Foods essential Oils from a website called Nutrition Geeks.  They have great products at great prices.  I have been very impressed with this company.  Not only are their prices great, but they also have great and fast service.  You get 5% of your order as a discount on your next order.  Shipping is only $4.95 on orders up to $75 and free over that.  Two of my oils leaked on my first order.  When I sent them an email, they replied swiftly and sent me two new bottles, no questions asked.  Love them!  Here is a code to get $5 off your first order, FFBAE0.  Just enter it at check out.  It gives me a credit too.  I hope you like them as much as I do.

How It All Began

I have known for a long time that I and my family needed to eat more healthy.  But I didn't want to.  I like sugar, junk food, and the convenience of picking up a pizza for dinner once in a while.  It seemed like so much work to figure out what we could and could not eat.  And I was not looking forward to the remarks from children who were not interested in a healthier lifestyle.  With all the other stresses of life, it just seemed like one more thing I just didn't want to tackle.  And so I didn't.

A few months ago I went to a free class by Green Smoothie Girl, Robyn Openshaw.  I went because I was a little bit curious, but mostly I went because the organizer of the event was a friend of mine.  I went to support her.

Robyn's story and her enthusiasm for raw fruits and vegetables changed my outlook.  I bought a huge bag of spinach at Costco along with some frozen fruit.  And the rest is history.  I love drinking my fresh raw green smoothie everyday as does my husband, who is not a very big vegetable fan.  Our kids drink them as often as I can get them to.  It was this one, seemingly small, thing that I was doing for myself and my family that was directing us towards a healthier lifestyle.  And it felt good.  Actually it felt great.

And I wanted to do more.

Now, anytime I hear someone mention a natural remedy or a healthier way to eat, my ears perk up.  There is so much that I want to know and learn.  Please join me and my family on this journey to a healthier, more natural life.
